History of Monkey Pox
Monkey Pox was first discovered in 1958, although it was discovered in monkeys it wasn't discovered in humans until 1970 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Most of the cases of Monkey pox have been in rural areas of the Congo basin and West Africa. There was a breakout of Monkey pox in 2003 in the United States caused by Gambian pouched rats in a pet store. Monkey pox has also been reported in Sudan.
